Welcome to
First Grade Connections

Mrs. Betty Noseda
I have been teaching for 25 years at Downe Township Elementary School. I am married and I have two grown children.
I love to teach first grade students. It is truly a special age. I believe that when parents and teachers work together, the child receives the best education possible. Please read to your child everyday. A child that is read to will become a fluent reader.
If your child has a concern about something that happened at school and you suspect you are missing pieces of the story, please call me at home that night. I will be glad to talk to you. In fact, I will have more time to talk.

HOMEWORK
Monday through Thursday, your child needs to read for at least 10 minutes each night. Please have them practice the story we are reading for the week. This will help your child improve his or her fluency. Also, please have your child read easy books. I want to develop a love for reading not frustration. Please enter the number of minutes your child reads on the Weekly Reading Log. I collect them on Fridays.
At times, your child will bring home class work which was not completed in school. Please have your child complete this work before reading. Do not make your child do more than 30 minutes of homework per night. If the assignment is not completed, write a note on the top of the paper.
