Student Standard of Dress |

| On May 16,
2006, The Downe Township Board of Education adopted a student standard
of dress (uniform) policy that is mandatory for all students in grades kindergarten to eight.
The objective of the student standard of dress is to create a community
atmosphere conducive to learning and discipline. |

Important
Addition!!!! Beginning with the 2008 - 2009 school year,
students may also wear light blue tops with navy blue bottoms! The
following are the only combinations of clothing that are permitted:
Navy Blue Tops with Khaki Bottoms
Light Blue Tops with Navy Blue Bottoms |
| The standard of dress
for students in grades K through 8, commencing with the first day of the
2008-2009 school year, shall be as follows: |
Tops:
-
Shirts - Collared polo, turtle
neck or oxford (short or long sleeves)
-
Sweater - Cardigan, pull over or
vest over collared top (collar must show)
-
Sweatshirt - Over collared top
(collar must show)
-
Color - Navy Blue, Light Blue
-
Proper fit, not baggy, not tight

Bottoms:
-
Pants
-
Shorts, skirts, skorts (finger
tip length)

Capri pants
-
Jumpers
-
Color - Khaki, Navy Blue

Proper fit, not baggy, not
tight, must be worn at the waist line

Footwear:
-
Shoes with rubber or hard soles
(can't have open toe & strapless back)

Sneakers
-
Socks/tights (white, navy,
khaki)

Accessories - belts optional

The following
items are considered NOT appropriate:
- Clothing that is excessively
tight and/or revealing. (examples are transparent blouses, bare
midriffs, spaghetti-strapped tank tops or halter tops.)
- Hip huggers, micro mini skirts,
clothes that reveal undergarments, pants or other bottoms worn below
the waistline.
- Shirts that are undergarments or
have inappropriate imprinting.
- Untied or unsecured shoes as well
as other unsafe footwear like flip flops or shoes that are opened
toed and have strapless backs
- Outer jackets, coats, hats, or head
coverings worn indoors.
- Pajamas
- Shorts may be worn from April 15 to
October 15.
- Shorts, skirts, skorts must be
finger-tip length and not too tight or see through.
- Shorts may not be bicycle or other
spandex shorts.
